Introduction/ Team Builder

Follow the Leader

Follow the Leader - have someone leave the room and pick a leader. The rest of the group follows/mirrors them, making a rhythm, and the person comes back in and tries to guess who the leader is.

Goal
To establish expected and unexpected behaviors for the class, to encourage pragmatic skills, and to begin peer interaction

Warm Ups

Body, Face & Voice

Body: Stretch up to the ceiling like a cat, unscrew the lightbulb/pet the dog, marionette, crayons. Voice: Face massage, big face, little face, a thousand funny faces, Addams Family, lip trills, vocal waterfall, tongue twisters

To ready the body and voice for the following exercises

Improvisation Game

This Is Not a…

This is not a...A props game! The instructor will pick a prop and demonstrate - it will turn into any object except what it already is! For example, "this is not a pen, this is a..." and then you mime using it in a different way: like a telescope, like a baseball bat, like a microphone, etc... we keep going and everyone has multiple turns and will use the prop in a different way!

To promote listening skills, flexibility, taking cues and quick thinking.

Cool Down

Teachers lead a cool-down involving breathing exercises and calming movements
